ThisNext

What is ThisNext you might ask? I was surfing the internet for interesting things about blogging. And voila, out came this site. Similar to Digg, Del.icio.us, Technorati, etc. It is like a community for people to share about things. In ThisNext case, it is sharing about product.

As quoted on ThisNext site:

ThisNext is a shopcasting network where you can recommend, share and discover great products.ThisNext believes that better buying means better living. Great products can help us do, be and experience the things that make us happy. Our goal is to help people discover great and deeply gratifying products.

Every product on ThisNext is picked by the ThisNext community (That means you!). You can organize your picks into product playlists we call shopcasts.

Great shopcast lists can be about activities (like climbing or cooking) or things (like fashion or food). They can even be about lifestyles (like being green). Shopcast lists and picks are tagged and searchable on ThisNext for easy discovery by other people.

When you make a shopcast list, you are letting the world know what you think is great and worth spending hard-earned money to buy. You are answering the question “What do you use?” for people who share your interests and POV. People who like your taste can then find and track your personal shopcasts or they can follow the collective wisdom of crowds to discover what the community recommends.

Sound quite good to me actually. Hee~ Considering that I am quite a shopaholic myself. Meanwhile, let me sign up and see what it got to offer!

What is Digg?

Digg is one of the site that I will go to normally to find out what are some of the latest posts that is interesting. So it is also one of the sites that I got myself registered when I set up my blog.

What is Digg? I extract the information from the site itself here.

Digg is a place for people to discover and share content from anywhere on the web. Digg surfaces the best stuff as voted on by our users.

So in short, it is like a community where people can vote if your post is interesting anot. And your post will get ranked according to how many diggs you accumulate for it.

How to Digg?

  1. When you find an article you link, submit it to Digg.com.  If other people read it and link it, they will Digg it. Thus, the article is on the way to becoming popular.
  2. You can also particpate in the Digg process, by looking through the posts on Digg, and digging the stuff you like. You can also choose to Bury posts that contain bad links, off-topic content, or duplicate entries.
  3. Network your Diggs. Inform your friends on what have you been digging. Share the Diggs. You can email them the stories you Digg too.
  4. Commenting on Diggs.

The New World of Blogging

Although I am very internet savvy, but I have alwayz been reluctant to jump on the blogging bandwagon. Why? Because I do not see the logic of putting your diary on the web.

But the world of blogging have evolved from the basic idea of keeping an online diary.
And apparently, I missed out alot. :)

But it is better late than never right! :)

So here I am, trying to explore the new world of blogging.

There are a lot of new tools and sites that help promote blogs. Which isn’t surprising, considering that blogging now have taken a mainstream role of disseminating news and sharing of content. Sites such as Digg, Technorati, and more are a virtual global village of blogs.

I am still a newbie here in this world. But I shall endeavour to do my best to absorb as much knowledge as I can about this exciting and vibrant world. And I shall put whatever I read and find useful here to share with people who are reading my blog.
